Gaby is a Counselling Psychologist with full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and full membership to the Australian Psychological Society. She has 17 years’ experience working with children, adolescents and their families. She has worked for 11 of these years in the area of child protection including family preservation and out of home care. She has also worked in the areas of intellectual disabilities and addiction.
Gaby is passionate about providing her clients with a safe and supportive environment in which to recover and heal from the impacts of complex trauma. She also provides therapy for less complex or severe psychological issues. Common areas she works with are depression, anxiety and phobias, social skills difficulties, school refusal, risk taking, oppositional and difficult behaviours, sleep difficulties and attentional difficulties.
Gaby is highly skilled at integrating a range of evidence based therapies to meet the needs of the children and families she works with. Therapies include cognitive behaviour therapy, attachment based family systems, Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprograming, Internal Family Systems, parent coaching and skills training. Gaby is a qualified facilitator of a range of parenting groups including; Reparative Parenting Program for foster and kinship carers, Tuning into kids: Emotionally Intelligent Parenting and Bringing up Great Kids.
Gaby’s work is client centred, family focused and holistic. She understands the value of working together with parents, carers, teachers and relevant professionals to ensure best outcomes for the child.
